History

Don Calabrese Head Coach started the Black Sheep Freestyle Club upon his arrival to Georgia in March of 2001.
Since many athletes were from South Gwinnett H.S. and other local schools a non school name was selected.
We then moved up the road to South Gwinnett H.S. for our first folkstyle season under the Black Sheep banner claiming a Team State title and Team State runnerup honors.
In 2002 Black Sheep had to step in and coach the Junior Olympic squad in Knoxville,Tenn. We also brought 7 Black Sheep freestylers along to fill the ranks.Going 5-4 in our pool with only 2 days prep with Brian Bailey and Willie Mays earning Silver and Matt Dollar and Chris McMahon grabbing Copper.
In 2003 Don again coached Georgias Junior Olympians in Detriot,Michigan with enough time to run a 12 day training camp.He also has to take on administrative duties because of the lack of A.A.U. wrestling in Georgia. The Black Sheep sponsored the event hoping to achieve a primary goal(out of state recognition for Georgia)and we got some ..placing 5th in the Country.
Black Sheep ran thier first ever folkstyle season with 5 individual state champs and 11 placers. Won a state team title in one division and placed 2nd in another. Black Sheep have completed their third freestyle season.Black Sheep return to original venue at Shiloh H.S. in Snellville with our usual open door policy. Why Black Sheep? We aren't allowed to tell outsiders under penalty of torture.
What started the AAU/GWA ? It was offered after these young men surprised everyone at the Nationals
