2004 NHSCA NATIONAL OPEN
Great showing by current and former Black Sheep wrestlers. Former Black Sheep wrestlers Justin Martin, Billy Hermenau, Mark Kamens, Cameron Burger and, Forest Garner all made All American. Garner placed a close second with Martin fighting through concelations for third.
Current Black Sheep preformed just as well. Zak Moore and Ryan Fowler wrestled hard and reached All American status. Zak placed 5th while ryan placed 4th.
On a sad note, Black Sheep Derrik Vorher suffered a dislocated elbow in the All American round. He is on a three mounth road to recovery. our thoughts are with him as he rehabs for next High School Season.

2004 AAU YOUTH NATIONALS
We for once could compete with the big schools because we brought most of our squad... "we showed up" unafraid.Even the kids who struggled showed up to scrap. 7th grader Craig Nagy ran with the big dogs dropping 3 matches to high quality older boys including Medved nhsca nat placer,Missouri St.placer and a S.E.Region runnerup yet he always kept it close,exciting never letting them off the hook. Even Kevin Youdell won his early test came down sick managed to throw a state champ to his back ..up 5-0 before succumbing. Jon "Izzy" Isburg turned the tables on standout Brandon Ferguson Midschool National Champ tech falling him in the go to medal round after being dominated by him in earlier tournys placing Jon 4th at Nationals he also topped Missouris'4th pl finisher and ahead of nhsca national 4th placer,S.E.Region runnerup included in this weight were winter national runnerup from Michigan and Las Vegas national champ from N.J.as well as Spice of Kell teammate Craig Nagy,5x state placer Forrester. Tyler Jarvis never quit despite adversity while facing So.Carolina State Champ and pulled off a nailbiter that earned him a Crown. Daniel Bullard proved he can win the big one topping So.National Champ to become a National Champ himself.Sam won several matches and was close to placing in a bracket that boasted a 3x Nat Champ,Nat placer,Florida,SC state champ.Miles Gaylen (Winner) survivors bracket 5th place Always one to prove you just can't keep him down. Survivor is what he is.Tom Bullard had a Nat Champ,Ga 2nd,Alabama 4th,Pennsy district winner.They may have touched hardware..I'll wait for confirmation. We are very proud of ALL our sheep,proud we helped bring a National Event to theirs' and Georgias' backyard. Thank You to all who pitched in and participated making this the highest level in state kids tourny ever ...heck even Jason Luster was tested...and he has to travel real far for that... this time we brought it to his door. Don


J.D. Smith proved why he was my rookie of the year after only just setting foot on a mat a year and a half ago wrestling as a boy possessed he adds a National Title to his State runnerup medal topping three state placers by fall or tech. Justin Sperin pinned seeded two time sc state champ before getting some hard fought redemption from last years state runnerup in a 3-2 match. Chance had a state champ and Grand Nat.Champ in his pool only dropping one close one then upending his competition adding a National Silver to his National Gold from Great Lakes and his state title. After dropping a heartbreaker Nolan showed it's not how many times you get knocked down it's how many times you get up although he only got knocked down once .. get up he did to top one of the best out of state wrestlers on his way to a National 2nd after winning the Tulsa Nationals earlier this season and the states a week earlier. Zack Moore lost only twice to standout state and national champ Westerman and a Maryland Ohio Tourn.of Champions winner before pushing back hard..beating two state bronze and a state 4th demanding national bronze while thumping the rest of the field. John Collins went 4-2 losing to state champ Travis Sheehy and the runnerup a previous national placer but he never said die and even after being out pointed in some matches came back and stuck his foes finishing ahead of Tenn and Alabama state placers to gain a National Bronze medal.

With wrestlers from Florida,South Carolina,Tennessee,North Carolina,Kentucky,Alabama.Black Sheep scrapped their way to a team Silver despite entering only 11 wrestlers. Collins Hill won the team championship with Buford and West Walton placing 3rd and 4th. Nolan Bullard,Miles Gaylen,Josh Lovin,Luis Trevino all claimed top honors.Justin Sperin claimed Silver dropping a decision to former Black Sheep standout Andrew Bullard.Kevin Youdell,Zak Moore and A.J.Hans grabbed bronze in his first ever tournament.
BORDER WARS Savannah had the Sheep gaining 2nd losing to the tough host team. Making the Black Sheep the only team to place in both Border Wars 1 and 2.



Josh Matlack 125 high school Gwinnett County Champ and O.W. H.S. State Champ and big brother Jon 140 County runnerup and Area runnerup to State Champ helped Parkview H.S. to there first ever State Championship.Derrick Vorheer Shiloh County runnerup area third,with wins over state champion one match from state placement.Wes Cashion So.Gwinnett one match from state placement.John Lillo Brookwood state qualifier,Other Youth Sheep that wrestled varsity as frosh include Brian Sperin Shiloh,Bert Panky ES Covington,Sean Christy,Tommy Youdell So.Gwinnett,Cam Burger Shiloh and Pat Smith So.Gwinnett.Hunter and Taylor Glenn both placed in 1A States.Andrew Swanson placed in 3A states,.several of our freestyle boys made states from Brookwood including Mike,Saige and Charley..we are proud of all of them.

Cumberland Colleges'Angelo Price 171 places 4th in Ga.Tech Open
Brian Sperin 9th and Cameron Burger 9th grade won their first Tourny as a highschooler in the J.V. class.Kamaia Gaylen wins her first tourny in youth.Sheep highschoolers Derrick Vorheer(Shiloh) dec Wes Cashian(So Gwinnett)as both reached finals
August 2003: Georgia Black Sheep Junior Olympians reach Championship round downing 2 Michigan squads on their turf edging the top Team Ohio club, South Dakota and Pennsy team plus 2 additional teams on way to a fifth place finish at the Junior Olympic National Duals in Detriot Michigan.

July 3 2003:NHSCA NATIONALS Junior Olympian /Black Sheep at Virginia Beach. Was proud to coach the Wilson and Glenn brothers of Jefferson all won matches 3 getting within seconds of becoming All Americans..Nate Wilson 125 beat an eventual All American and lost in the medal round with 5 seconds to go..Jeremiah Wilson 130 took New England's multible time All American standout Maroney into overtime finishing one round away from medal round.Hunter Glenn 275 lost in overtime had he won he'd have been crowned All American..his baby brother Taylor 190 lost in the middleschool medal round.
Brian Baily 135 became a 4 time All American and could have possibly won this had he been a lesser man and laid down milking an injury for a disqualification.. he didn't.. he wrestled like a man Brian lost 4-3 to an Arizona wrestler that spanked the Preseason National champ..Brian did win in the All American Round.Jeff Racine was a hammer on top reaching the Semi's achieving All American status caught a loss then bounced back placing 5th. Angie Price 171,Derrick Vorheer 152,Billy Hermenau 112 won matches.Justin Martin 103 middleschool dropped a 2-0 match in the medal round. All Junior Olympian hopefuls won matches.
Nov 10th 02: 3 Black Sheep campers placed in Pre-season folkstyle Nationals in North Carolina. After a 2 week intensive camp 3 of the 7 who ventued out earned all american honors. Justin Otis 3rd,Brian Baily 6th in High School and Josh"Jack" Matlack 3rd in Junior High. Campers who excelled during regular season were Justin Otis,Josh Sheppard, Aaron Glover,Josh Matlack all Georgia State Champs,Brian Baily State placer.

August 2002: 7 Black Sheep wrestlers helped Georgia hold their own at the national junior olympic duals in Tennesee. The "02 Junior Olympians" went 5 wins and 4 losses in our pool despite forfeiting several weights.Defeating Virginia,Delaware,Kentucky and two Ohio squads.
Brian Baily went 12-1 and was named All American receiving a silver medal.Other Black Sheep with winning records for the duals include Allen Little,Angie Price,Jon Matlack.Other Georgia standouts Willie Mays All American Silver medalist Matt Dollar,Chris McMahon also medaled.
February 03:Andrew Bullard places 3rd at Liberty Nationals in Missouri elementary division.
March 03: Justin Otis wins High School post season folk National Title in Delaware.
Congratulations Justin Otis for signing with UTC as a scholarshipped athlete.
April 03: Matt Casciano places 4th in Virginia at Elementary Nationals.
