A.A.U. WRESTLING STARTING UP IN GEORGIA
Letter from AAU NATIONAL CHAIRMAN
Don . . . Congratulations on the "Black Sheep's" outstanding showing at our Junior Olympics! Your boys were exceptionally well mannered and made people sit up and take notice of Georgia wrestling. I'm sure you were very proud of their showing. Great job!
Additionally, I wanted to welcome you aboard as our newest State Chairman for AAU Wrestling. We are so very glad you have accepted our offer to develop AAU wrestling in Georgia. It's a great state that has wonderful programs already in place. It is our sincerest wish that you augment those current programs in a way that offers additional and continuing opportunities for Georgia wrestlers.
As far as administrative structure, it is our recommendation that you establish a group of state officers and appoint a board of directors that will help you conduct your program. As you travel through this process, please don't hesitate to call me with questions or ask for suggestions. That's why I'm here at the national headquarters.
As far as whether you should select folkstlye or either of the international styles to start with, you are the man in charge and as a result can pick one, two or all three. It's your call. So you know, in the AAU, we believe that people who are from a particular state should administer the program in that state as they are the ones who know the area best, the people and the resources.
Take care and keep me updated as to how you are coming along and let me know how I can assist.
Best wishes,
Wade
